三组男女互相产生错综复杂的感情关系构成剧情，首先是舞台导师Jerry（本·斯蒂勒）与妻子Terri（凯瑟琳·基纳）不和，因而跟有夫之妇Mary（艾米·布伦尼曼）发展婚外情。Terri也跟别人上床，可是在她发现Jerry背着她偷情时却醋劲大发。另一方面，Cheri（娜塔莎·金斯基）也背着男朋友搞同性恋，三对鸳鸯搞乱一池春水。
